12 years ago if you were to tell me that I was going to be an elementary school teacher I would not have believed you. But here I am in my first year of teaching as a bilingual elementary teacher. I had worked with kids in the past at the YMCA doing after school care and summer camps and I loved it. But when I graduated college I was offered an amazing job at the advertising agency that I had interned for and so I jumped at the opportunity. I loved it so much that I stayed there for 12 years. I loved working in advertising but eventually the stress gets to you. I knew that it was time for a change. So I looked back at other things that I loved to do and I remember that I loved working with kids. They are inspirational. They aren't scared of anything. I knew that I wanted to make a difference in the world and help others. So after a lot of thinking and praying, I decided to get my teaching certificate. So here I am wrapping up my certification and trying to survive my first year of teaching at the same time. It's been a roller coaster but I can confidently say that I am going to make it through my first year.
